BTL

My approach to Below-The-Line (BTL) and Out-Of-Home (OOH) advertising focuses on turning traditional outdoor media into immersive, high-impact experiential installations. By combining physical engineering, kinetic mechanics, augmented reality, and environmental triggers, I transform standard billboards into interactive brand narratives that capture attention, drive organic social sharing, and leave a lasting impression in urban environments.

BTL & Ambient Advertising Overview

Here is a breakdown of three innovative ambient OOH campaigns featuring dynamic engineering, interactive technologies, and real-time environmental activation.

MINI Cooper: Unlimited Agility & AR Experience

To demonstrate MINI Cooper’s agility and its ability to handle any road or terrain, this ambient outdoor installation featured a dramatic 3D loop-the-loop track breaking out of the standard billboard frame. To extend physical engagement into the digital space, the billboard incorporated an Augmented Reality (AR) trigger. By pointing a smartphone camera at the display, users unlocked exclusive 3D animations of the MINI tackling the loop alongside dynamic advertising content.

  • Concept & Spatial Design: Engineered an eye-catching 3D looping track structure that physically visualizes MINI’s core attribute of driving anywhere without limits.
  • Augmented Reality Integration: Developed an interactive AR layer accessible via mobile phones, delivering real-time animated sequences and interactive media directly over the physical installation.
  • Phygital Engagement: Merged outdoor spatial installation with mobile interactive technology to transform a passive display into an engaging viral experience.

Rain-Activated Foaming Beer Glass

This dynamic OOH installation brought the iconic Bud glass to life by turning urban rainfall into an engaging creative trigger. The top of the 3D beer glass was built with a custom perforation system housing a completely safe, non-toxic reactive agent. Whenever rain fell, water entered through the top vents, triggering a reaction that produced rich, realistic beer foam spilling over the edge of the glass in real time.

  • Weather-Responsive Activation: Built an environmental installation that physically reacted to natural rainfall without requiring electronic sensors or manual controls.
  • Safe Foam Generation: Formulated an eco-friendly, non-toxic material setup integrated behind top perforations to reliably produce realistic beer foam upon contact with water.
  • Contextual Brand Narrative: Turned gloomy rainy weather into a surprising, perfectly timed visual highlight that entertained pedestrians and drivers.

MTS: Seamless Network Connection on the Go

For MTS, Moscow's leading telecom operator, the goal was to demonstrate flawless mobile network coverage even inside high-speed underground subway trains ("Catches Connection Everywhere!"). The billboard utilized dynamic kinetic engineering featuring a custom motorized scrolling mechanism that physically moved a subway car across the display in continuous motion, creating a vivid illusion of a train traveling in real time.

  • Kinetic Motion Mechanism: Designed a custom motorized mechanical billboard featuring a continuous rolling belt to drive physical moving train elements.
  • Direct Visual Metaphor: Instantly communicated seamless mobile network reliability inside underground subway systems through continuous physical movement.
  • High-Impact Traffic Visibility: Engineered for maximum visibility on high-traffic urban routes, ensuring dynamic motion grabbed driver attention immediately.
